Young Leaders for Safer Cities 2019
We are pleased to announce the launch of our Young Leaders for Safer Cities programme for 2019.
We are now reaching out to schools and community organisations that may wish to refer young people age 14 – 15 years to our YLFSC Course, starting in April 2019. We aim to recruit young people through school assemblies and community presentations. Our programme is ran From Hackney Community College here so if your young people are within reasonable travelable distance to our location here in Hackney Community College, just sign up on the link below.
The programme starts with a 3 day induction programme on 8th April- 10th April 2019 here at the college in the Easter Holiday and culminates in young people taking part in amazing leadership residential weekend at Kingswood. This is designed to give young people a great understanding of the programme, get to know our tutors and bond with their peers before lessons start in earnest on 27th April 2019. Young people are expected to participate in structured lessons 9am two Saturdays per month exploring Leadership, power & race, Political Literacy, Violent crime, Stop and Search, Understanding the Media, Problem Solving and presentation skills.
We have a dedicated period for young people to take part in social action projects with our employment and charitable partners where young people gain vocational skills and begin to explore careers and employment pathways before presenting their solutions to their peers. The programme ends with an amazing Graduation ceremony on the19th July 2019. Everyone including teachers and parents are welcome to attend.
We look forward to hearing from you.
