BREAKING NEWS:  Key findings of our independent evaluation cited young people are better able to demonstrate:  significantly improved educational outcomes at year 10; raised educational attainment at key stage 3; strong, resilience and resistance to peer pressure

Join Us – VOYAGE currently has a small team of facilitators and tutors delivering our workshops to the young people who we believe need us most. Our facilitators and tutors are vital to our organisation as they are the people who connect with our young people, empower them to become leaders, transform them so they are equipped to support them selves and live sustainable and progressive lives.

We also aim to develop a regular quarterly forum and coffee mornings were tutors and peer mentors can come together develop, grow and share and more importantly access paid opportunities. We also want to develop the voice of our tutors and mentors to affect change in the criminal justice system as well as drive in development opportunities by:

  • adopting a number of accredited training programmes so tutors can access these on a rolling basis throughout the year

  • making courses freely available, accessible and facilitate access to higher level qualifications

  • utilising our online learning platform to offer training out of hours

  • creating a shadowing programme so training reflects the work place

To achieve this we know this is a huge responsibility and we know it isn’t for everyone. The question is, does the prospect of transforming the lives of young black people interest you? Do you have what it takes to look at a group of young people and see what is possible for them? Are you willing to challenge your own beliefs, ways of communicating and levels of accountability in order to achieve the unreasonable?

If the answer is yes, and you are also from the BME community, please get in touch. You may forward us a copy of your CV and a short letter telling us about you or just email us to express interest.

We plan to hold a series of informal gatherings exploring the possibilities of pipeline processes for young people coming out of care, custody or those involved in the criminal justice system.

We aim to progress these gatherings towards a grand tutors Open Day in our offices in Old Street in middle of 2015 to begin exploring potential pipeline partnerships, progression routes and innovative ways to reduce offering for young people under 18 years. If you have any questions, just contact us.
